They work together to empower women in national decision-making and to hold policy makers accountable. The following issues which affect women and their families are the concerns of most Americans this election year; o Reordering national budget priorities to provide jobs, quality education, environmental integrity, improved social, economic, and physical infrastructure; o National policies supporting global peace and sustainable development; o Guaranteed access to comprehensive health care for all women regardless of income or age including reproductive health care; o Elimination of institutional racism, sexism, and violence; legal equality through strengthening and enforcement of civil rights laws; passage of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA); and o Insuring full economic participation of women through adequate wages and training, family and medical leave, affordable housing, and quality care for children and elders. The Women's Agenda is the product of a diverse working alliance of national women's organizations. They are affiliated with the Council of Presidents which has worked in Washington D.C. since 1985 and co-sponsored the 1988 Women's Agenda Conference. The Council facilitates practical working relationships. Its organizations have moved beyond debating issues to orchestrating timely action. Each year the Women's Agenda identifies top policy action priorities for Congress and the Administration. The Council of Presidents promotes reciprocal support and leadership in a diverse and effective women's movement. By coordinating non-partisan action on shared priorities, the Council reinforces organizations to increase their impact on the national political agenda In 1992, 15,000 local groups of citizen activities in every Congressional district are committed to the Women's Agenda.
