NGO/ECE Working Group on Women, Geneva, Switzerland (Danielle Bridel) Special Recognition I would like to personally thank my colleagues at the Center for Political Leadership & Participation who contributed in so many ways to this edition. Without their help, this edition might still be on the computer screen: Nance Lucas, Michelle Giovannini, Duke DuCharme, Jamie Michaels, Mike Nattel, Jason Bueno, G. Boone Poulin and especially Brooke Foster who dedicated the last nine months to the cause and worked alone for hours compiling valuable information for this edition. Deborah FitzSimmonds took over the organizing of the lists of women who attended the NGO forums in Vienna, Austria, and created a listing that will be a valuable resource for all of us. This listing caused computers to crash, and was really a challenge to manage. No one else wanted this job, and Deborah handled it magnificently. Gail Claspell and Matt Farrelly are responsible for bringing the directory on-line, and have made significant recommendations about managing the information, accessing it from around the world, and generally putting the commands into a language we can all understand. I hope everyone who reads the hard cover edition will also look it up on Internet, World Wide Web, or Mosaic. We plan to update the on-line version continually as we learn of election results, and meet organizations and individuals who are making valuable contributions to women's global empowerment. ŒAlyso Frederick, the graphic artist at the University of Maryland Printing Services unit designed the new look and style of this fourth edition. Sally Gately of Forms 'N Print took the copy on disk and whisked it away to be printed on recycled paper. Without their professional and creative approach to this publication, we would be standing at the copier with a paste-up version. Additionally, I would like to thank Georgia Sorenson, Diane Zoelle, Laura Liswood, Carol Yost, Laurie Handrahan, Hibaaq Bas-Bas, Tammy Horn, and Enhtuya Oidovyn for all their excellent advice, suggestions, and moral support during this long process. Lastly, I would like to dedicate this edition to my grandmothers, Ann G. White and Helen J. Welborn, and my parents Wiley and Patricia Welborn who will understand why I haven't written lately once they get their copy.
