To gain understanding of basic factors affecting the lives and interactions between women from the "Third" and "First" World. 2. To familiarize ourselves with the present state of theories and methodologies dealing with women and development. 3. To gain understanding of the impact of sexist and ethnocentric biases on development planning and the results of such planning. 4. To familiarize ourselves with some of the main contexts affected by and affecting development, such as the environment, family organization, work in the formal and informal sector, education, health and fertility, food and hunger, women and power. 5.
